Google.cn Stops Auto Redirect to HongKong Site for ICP License

Update:Google has had renewed the ICP license to work in China.
Highly criticized Google China case come to an end, when Google China stops to redirect users to Google HongKong Page. If you missed it, Due to high censorship pressure of local laws Google took a move to reroute it's China website to uncensored HongKong one in March this year. Which was unacceptable for Chinese government, Chinese media and some users, and highly criticized. Soon after, GoDaddy too stopped registering .cn domain names. However Google claims that google.com.hk is working well for users and Google. But the end of redirection has a big reason, If Google doesn't stop this, It will not be able to renew it's Internet Content Provider (ICP) license.
Without the ICP license no company can operate a commercial website like Google.cn in China.

What Happens to Censorship?

updated
Google.cn will approach to follow it's commitment of no self censorship, However content would be censored by Chinese govt. Instead of auto redirecting to HongKong website, a link to Google.com.hk will be placed in Google.cn page (look at screen shot). So users have a choice of making censored or uncensored search queries. When I am writing this post, there seems to be some error in Chinese homepage, I hope they fix it soon.

Will Google Get ICP License Renewed?

Google has resubmitted the license application yesterday. Google says on the official blog, since they will continue to provide services from google.cn their license will be renewed.

Update:Google has had renewed the ICP license to work in China.

But this is a good move, many of the Chinese users requested to keep Google.cn alive. But doesn't it sound a bit of selfishness? When they needed the ICP license for further business in China, they changed their decision.

Let's see what happens about ICP license? What do you think?  Should Google stop .cn or keep it alive? Do you think the ICP license will be approved?
