With over 130 million SIM subscribers and 180 plus total customers, the most innovating telecom company of India Bharti Airtel, started to offer free access to Facebook to it's subscribers. In case you don't have an account or you don't know about facebook, from which world are you? Facebook is the leading and most accessed social networking site which even brought lost friends and family members together. With the partnership between Bharti Airtel & Facebook, mobile users can access free facebook for two months, however the last date is 31st august.

The full features of Mobile version of Facebook will be available with no data charges on m.facebook.com. Various other |3lack |-|at methods are also available to access free GPRS ;) But I would never publish. On mobile site users can access features like updating status, writing on walls, messaging, texting, sharing images/videos/news, commenting and a lot more. It's currently available in English and Hindi more languages like Punjabi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam will soon be available

Mr. Shireesh Joshi, Chief Marketing Officer- Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel, “We are pleased to bring an industry-leading offer to our 130 million plus customers by announcing this long-term partnership with Facebook - the popular social media service. Our mobile customers will also be the first in the world to enjoy Facebook on their Airtel mobile in five vernacular languages. All of this reiterates our commitment to customers to offer the best value-for-money services that enable their lifestyles.”

“Today, more than 100 million Facebook users around the world access the site through their mobile devices. As mobile connectivity in India continues to grow, Airtel’s free offering of our full mobile site enables millions of people - whether they’re currently using Facebook or setting up their profiles for the first time - to connect with their Facebook friends wherever they are”, said Henri Moissinac, Head of Mobile Business, Facebook.

How to Access Free Facebook

1. Existing GPRS/EDGE/MO Internet Users: There is no need to do anything extra. Just visit [m.facebook.com], no data charges will be applied.

2. First Time Users: If you haven't yet used or not currently using the popular Mobile Office or any other internet service provided by Airtel on mobile. Then SMS facebook and send it to 54321, wait for the confirmation message and download the setting/configuration files as instructed. If you need any help then feel free to ask me instead of customer care. Because, they charge for it :( Poor. Then access facebook mobile at [m.facebook.com]

The Dead Line

Make sure you stop accessing facebook before 31st August, other wise standard or special data charges may apply.

Behind The Scene

With this many more people will join facebook. If new facebook users get addicted to it, definitely they will continue to use GPRS/EDGE/MO even if charged. This is a good marketing strategy, Airtel plays well. This is why Bharti Airtel will provide free 3G service soon, to make people, mostly villagers addicted to lightening fast Internet :) and services like video calling.

Well, do you use Facebook on your mobile phone? I do. Did you like this service from Airtel?
