Google Voice gives you services like Voice Mails, International Call, Free SMS, Call Conference, Call Recording and many more. Some services are free. You also get a number which can connect all of your phones for the lifetime. Google Voice is powered by VoIP [Voice over Internet Protocol]. Currently, Google voice is available in the US only and requires an invite to enter, like Google Wave. I got my GV invite in early days of its launch ;)

Google thinks that Voice very well suits students especially the college students. Students can read SMS and voicemails with the transcription tool when attending lectures. The transcription tool converts voice into text. In India, cell phones are banned in educational premises :(

Google now gives priority to students. If you are a student and have an edu [.edu] email id then go to https://www.google.com/voice/students and enter your email id.

This is the best opportunity for students to get a Google Voice to invite. I could have given you invites, but, since I am not a US resident. I can't even log in to my account despite having got an invite in the early days of its launch (Let me try some stuff). Anyway, I am waiting for Google Voice to come to India, as Google promised.

Have you got your Google Voice to invite?
