Last week Bharti Airtel, Leading telecom operator and first Indian operator to launch 3G services, announced that the company is all set to launch 3G services in India before the end of year 2010. Currently Bharti Airtel is running 3G broadband services in SriLanka, Jersey, Guernsey and Seychelles successfully. Airtel bid for the 3G spectrum in 13 telecom circles of India which covers metros and approximate twenty one percent of all data traffic in the country, A win win situation for Airtel :D Bharti Airtel is also partnering with other 3G operators to provide seamless 3G roaming to its customers.

Until now climbers and trekkers had to use satellite phones as they were the only means of communication on the highest peak and the region. Now they can with 3G cellphone or laptop, make phone calls, video calls, surf the web, email and tweet from the Mt. Everest. This was made possible by Nepalese telecommunication company NCELL.
