Ants in Camera Nikon d90 DSLR - How To Remove Ants from Camera
Remove ants from canon nikon sony camera
My camera and I recovered from a great disaster few weeks ago. Hundreds of ants entered in my dslr d90. At first I had no idea of what to do. Everyone gave different advices. I tried almost everything. I will share them and let's see what worked best. I am also sharing some tips which can help keep your  baby safe ;)

1. I picked the ants from hand and blew them away. This may take hours of effort but all lucky ants remaining inside wont go.

2. I put my camera in sun. The ants couldn't bear the heat inside, and started to come out. But the heat outside was much more than the inside, so ants preferred to stay inside. PS- make sure you don't heat the camera in sun more than the suggested operating temperature mentioned in the manual.

3. Ants dont like the smell of turmeric. I spread some turmeric powder near the camera and waited for a night. I could see some ants leaving the camera. But again few returned back to the camera.

4. Some suggested me to put some sweets outside so ants would come out. But I didn't try this, as it could have attracted more ants from outside. There was also the possibility that ants could have taken food inside the camera and fill their Rashan :D

5. At the end I used hair drier to blow away the ants. The warm air did great job. Also make sure the drier is not hot and speed is low. You can use air blower, vacuum cleaner or the back of the vacuum cleaner. I blew air from the battery cap from where the most of the ants had entered. They started coming from the dials. I needed to do it few times in some intervals.

6. I also tried to irritate the ants with vibration. I used the hair drier again for giving mild vibration. Don't try to tap your delicate camera with hands, and give it shocks. I kept the drier over the camera for few minutes, the moter inside it vibrates, but enough to irritate the ants making home to your dslr.

7. You can also spread insecticides and put your camera at the center. This will kill the ants coming out from your camera and will avoid them from returning back. This will also prevent other ants to enter in the dslr. Take much care so you don't make your dslr poisonous, unless you have some plan of committing suicide ;)

8. Washing your DSLR in water (I kept getting funny suggestions). You can dip your camera in water if you don't love it. If the ants don't hold anything inside. They will be floating in water. But ants can live inside the water for 2 days :). Though  I don't need to say, but don't try this point.

9. Sending your DSLR to the authorized service center is always the best idea. Although ant infestations isn't covered by warranty, and they will charge for removing the ants.  But it's the safest way. This also wont void the warranty. If you have tried above methods for removing the ants and all ants have gone. Despite of this You should send your dslr to service center. Because there might be remains of ants, dead bodies, food or eggs in there. Which may cause fungus, moisture or attract ants or other insects in future.

10. Always put some silica jel packets in the dslr bag.

If you experienced the same, and have something to say. Feel free to comment below.

Android is one the most widely used mobile operating system which has now reached the tablet interface too. Android helps us take our mobiles to the next level as it supports broader multi-tasking, backups, and other basic security features as well. That is why it is recommended to add some basic Security applications to your mobile phone to make it secure.

Osama Bin Laden's Encrypted Treasure Computers A Hard Nut to CrackOsama Encrypted Treasure Hard Drive Cracking Truecrypt PGP thumb icon
Osama Bin Laden Encrypted Treasure Hard Drive Cracking Truecrypt PGP
CIA found five computers, ten hard drives, some USB disks and DVDs from the Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan. It's clear that thumb drives and DVD's were carried through courier.  It's kind of potential treasure of data for the US. Which may contain Al-Qaida's current and future operations. But it's not as simple at it sounds. Osama Bin Laden (OBL) was smart enough to encrypt his whole computers, which is not easy to crack if he used difficult passphrase. It's said that Osama used PGP (Pretty Good Privacy), Truecrypt or their own Mujahideen Secrets data encryption software to encrypt his hard drives.

To crack the encryption "dictionary attack" or "brute force" method would be applied, which is trying the combination of words, alphanumeric characters and symbols, which takes decades to crack through this process. So they are creating a smart dictionary which would contain words related to OBL and the previously seized contents, according to AccessData, a forensic software provider to govt. However cracking encryption become more easier it they get the live snapshot of the RAM. DOMEX is the acronym of Army level process of Document and Media Exploration. Army confirmed that it provided tactical DOMEX teams in Afghanistan in past. But it's still unknown which government agency will do cracking of encryption, and whether in the US or any secret place in Afghanistan.

Well did you encrypt your data? You can try Truecrypt, it's free.
